About the Courses
Do you want to teach floorwork but feel overwhelmed by the lack of clear structure? This foundation course gives you what you need: a clear progression system to organize your material for warm-ups and technique plus a 1.5 hour class plan you can use immediately. No more guessing at safe progressions or scrambling to fill class time.
What’s Included:
A breakdown of our Planes 1-6 progressive structure, giving you the tools to organize any floorwork movements with clear, developmental logic
Theme-based class planning that increases student retention and engagement
A bulletproof warm-up structure designed specifically for floorwork demands
A complete, ready-to-teach floorwork class with playlist (suitable for all levels, ages 11+)
Certificate of Completion for professional development purposes (note: this is not a certification to teach a Ground Grooves class)
Perfect for:
New floorwork teachers
Experienced dancers transitioning to teaching
Or any movement educator wanting to add floorwork to their classes safely and effectively.
Why This System Works:
Developed over 15+ years of teaching experience, this isn't theory—it's a well-tested formula. You'll learn the same progressive structure that's helped thousands of students around the world move from tentative floor exploration to confident, safe flow.
This course is NOT for:
Teachers who are looking to accrue floorwork vocabulary. This course provides the structure to safely organize your own movement vocabulary. One complete sample class is included in the course, which does include floorwork vocabulary you can implement immediately into your classes. For teachers looking to learn floorwork, we suggest starting with a GG TV membership!
Educators who already have established floorwork teaching systems and class structures. We'd suggest Course 2 instead!
Experienced educators seeking advanced pedagogical theory rather than foundational class building tools
Those teaching floorwork styles like breaking, pole, Capoeira, or contact improvisation (this focuses on foundational contemporary floorwork)
Tired of falling into the same class planning ruts? Class planning taking up way too much of your time? Stop scrambling for fresh material. Start with organized systems that generate endless inspiration. Build 3 classes and walk away with the inspiration to create countless more.
You'll leave the course with:
An extensive catalogue of your personal class material, making future class planning more streamlined
Three floorwork classes of your own creation utilizing our suggested frameworks
Three playlists to go along with your new classes
Certificate of Completion for professional development purposes (note: this is not a certification to teach a Ground Grooves class)
Perfect For:
Educators who have a floorwork teaching practice, but want to enliven their class design skills. You should have a clear understanding of safe technical progression and a base movement language in floorwork.
This course is NOT for:
Brand new teachers just starting their teaching journey (take Course 1: Structuring Your Floorwork Class first)
Teachers with limited floorwork vocabulary who don't yet have a base of movements to catalog
Those seeking basic class structure understanding (this course assumes you already know how to build a safe, progressive class which is covered in Structuring Your Floorwork Class)
Educators looking for done-for-you classes (this course guides you through the development of your own classes based on our favorite dynamic structures)

How long are the Courses?
Course 1 is 50 minutes of video material and you will most likely need to pause, take notes, and rewatch. We estimate you'll need 3 hours to work through this Course.
Course 2 is 35 minutes of video material, with an estimated 5 hours of additional personal work time to complete assignments.
How do I know which Course I should take?
If you are a new floorwork teacher, an experienced dancer transitioning to teaching, or just wanting to add floorwork to your classes safely and effectively, Course 1 is perfect for you.
After taking Course 1, you'd then be ready to move on to Course 2.
If you already have a floorwork teaching practice, but want to enliven your class design skills, Course 2 is perfect for you. Before taking this Course, you should already have a clear understanding of safe technical progressions and a base movement language in floorwork.
How long do I have access to the Course videos for?
You have lifetime access to the Course content.
Can I teach a Ground Grooves™️ class after taking the Courses?
No, these Courses are not certifications that allow you to call your classes "Ground Grooves." These Courses are for professional development and offer tools, structures, and inspiration for building your own floorwork classes.
